At The Whitt Law Firm, we are immigration lawyers dedicated to assisting our clients resolve family or business immigration issues. Our firm’s founder, Wendy Whitt, embodies this dedication.
While other young girls played with dolls, Wendy was digging to China in her back yard. She taught herself the Chinese alphabet before she learned the American English alphabet.
She yearned to be part of an international community bringing the world’s people together. Cornell Law School and the Air Force JAG (Judge Advocate General) helped get her there.
The firm’s clients are those who have been separated by immigration laws, politics, and thousands of miles. The wait and separation are painful – as Wendy understands first hand.
While serving in the Air Force JAG in Iraq, Wendy fell in love with an Iraqi member of my security detail. They planned to marry and spend the rest of their lives together.
When she returned to the United States, she successfully acquired a fiancé visa for him. However, it was not to be as the Iraqi government recalled him to active duty to fight terrorism.
Three years after she returned to the United States, her fiancé and she called off their engagement. The Iraqi government continued to need his services and they had to accept the fact that they would never let him go.
Although this was a personal and painful experience, Wendy believes it’s important to share with her clients so they know not only who she is as a person, but why she cares about you and your family. She understands how confusing and overwhelming the immigration system can be.
Wendy’s personal life has changed a great deal since then. Two years ago, she focused on her own life and how to grow as a person. She is now married to man from the Dominican Republic whose father sponsored him when he was a teenager.
In retrospect, Wendy says that her personal life is certainly not what she anticipated, but admits that no one’s ever really is. However, her professional life is exactly what she anticipated. Her own experiences have made her passion for helping others in these situations stronger. She has dedicated her life to bringing families who are separated by thousands of miles, immigration laws, and political boundaries – together again.
Wendy is proud, and humbled, to say that her passion has enabled many of her clients to avoid what she went through years ago. The Whitt Law Firm has grown considerably since that time and she has combined forces with others, like herself, who feel passionately about these issues.
